Breaking Normal
After a seven-year sabbatical, we're back.
"Expect nothing. Experience everything."
What happens when a group of extraordinary humans comes together and starts from a place of no secrets?
This is not a sage-on-a-stage event.
The people gathering are the retreat.
The people in the creek and sauna.
The conversations that keep going after dinner.
The music. The movement. The laughter. The silence.
The honest, fun, comfortable moments.
The surprising ease of being yourself.
Presence, presence, presence — beyond the normal judgments we carry about ourselves and each other.
The weekend
Four days, one rhythm
Initiation by Fire & Cold Water

The golden thread
Breaking Normal, the book
Breaking Normal is the golden thread running through this gathering — part yellow brick road, part almanac, part invitation to question the inherited scripts of "normal" and discover what's actually true for you.
It grew out of decades of experimentation with life, human connection, play, presence, and the question of what makes people come fully alive.

This is what we build
Moments from past Breaking Normal and International Tribe Design gatherings — the circles, the laughter, the people. This is the energy we're bringing back.
By Monday
What might be true by Monday
By Monday at 2 PM, there is a possibility that people you met only a few days earlier may know you more deeply than people who have known you for years.
That's part of the experiment. Synchronicity is the frequency.
We're experimenting with what happens when there's less performance, less hiding, fewer normal social scripts — and more truth, play, presence, and permission to actually be yourself.
Who it's for
You'll fit right in if…
- You're craving real connection — not another networking event, but people you actually remember a year later.
- You're willing to show up as you are — no performance, no persona, just you.
- You're a little tired of "normal" — the routines, the small talk, the autopilot.
- You're comfortable with the unknown — the agenda is intentionally loose. That's the point.

What's included?
Lodging, meals, and all programming for the weekend are handled — you focus on showing up. Text Daniel with any questions before you reserve your spot.
Coming solo?
Solo travelers are very welcome.
Getting to Boulder
Denver International Airport is the closest major airport. You can take the RTD airport bus directly from Denver International Airport to Downtown Boulder, and from there Boulder is very walkable depending on where you're staying.
What should I pack?
October may be one of the most beautiful times of year in Boulder — and one of the least predictable. We could get pristine golden Colorado fall weather. We could get sunshine and warmth. We could get freezing temperatures. We could even get snow.
There's no such thing as bad weather — but there is such a thing as a great mindset. Come ready for Boulder to be Boulder.
Bring layers, clothes you can move in, something warm, and comfortable walking shoes. We're not planning any major hikes, but expect to be outside and on your feet. If you're not staying at the motel, bring towels for the sauna and cold-plunge experiences.
And perhaps most importantly: bring a flexible mind and an open heart. Most likely we'll land in those peak, pristine Boulder fall conditions that make this one of Daniel's favorite times of year — if he were going to take the risk of choosing one weekend to show off the very best of Boulder, this would be it.

About Daniel Eisenman
Daniel Eisenman is the author of Breaking Normal: ReWild Your Inner Child and Set the Truth Free, host of the Breaking Normal Podcast, founder of Tribe Vitamins, and co-founder of International Tribe Design.
Before any of that, Daniel graduated from Emory University with a degree in Biology on the pre-med track — then stepped away from the path he was "supposed" to take and began an ongoing experiment in what life could look like outside the normal script. That experiment took him through all 50 states, more than 20 countries, and more than 50 retreats and gatherings centered around health, play, honesty, human connection, and one recurring question: what makes people come fully alive?
Those years became part of the foundation for Breaking Normal, International Tribe Design, the Breaking Normal Podcast, and the communities and businesses Daniel has built around the same underlying principles.
His work has never been about becoming the guru at the front of the room. It's about creating environments where people can remove the mask, question inherited assumptions, play again, tell more of the truth, and discover what happens when human connection becomes less performative and more real.
After a seven-year sabbatical from retreats, Daniel is bringing Breaking Normal back to Boulder. And this gathering is not about telling anyone how to live — it's an invitation to experiment with what becomes possible when you become more fully yourself.
